O.K., listen up men & women…this is Get Serious About Pink time. We cannot afford to tiptoe around the subject, sweep it under the rug or pretend it isn’t lurking around the corner just waiting for the opportunity to attack one of our precious family members or friends. So open your eyes and ears and Get Serious About Pink.  Here’s why…while taking a shower–only a few short years ago–I was doing a self breast exam and found a lump under my right arm. The lump turned out to be breast cancer–a stage one tumor. This was my second go around with this insidious disease in less than a year.

Now, I’m asking, no…pleading with everyone reading this blog to Get Serious About Pink and perform a self breast exam this month, next month, and the next, and the next… Early detection saves lives. The Susan G. Komen Foundation has one of the most comprehensive guides on the internet for performing a self breast exam.

Remember, men get breast cancer too. Although less common in men, around 2,000 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.
